Dubai- In a forward-looking initiative, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has initiated the tendering process for the establishment of an advanced Cardiac Centre of Excellence (CCoE), aiming to revolutionize cardiovascular care in the region.

Embracing an innovative public-private partnership (PPP) model, the DHA plans to host a bidder day on November 29 at the Conrad Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road, marking a pivotal milestone in bringing this state-of-the-art facility to fruition.

To navigate the selection process, the DHA has formed a robust team of advisors, with financial leadership from PricewaterhouseCoopers, technical guidance from Mott MacDonald, and legal expertise from Allen and Overy.

With cardiovascular disease ranking as the primary global cause of mortality, particularly prevalent in the Middle East, the Cardiac Centre of Excellence aspires to become a beacon of hope and healing.

Situated within the Rashid Medical Complex, the 110-120 bed facility is poised to deliver comprehensive cardiac services, spanning emergency care, inpatient, and outpatient services. Dr. Younis Kazim, CEO of Dubai Healthcare Corporation, envisions a streamlined approach, integrating international best practices, and emphasizing early detection through screening.

Highlighting the critical need for a dedicated center, Dr. Fahad Baslaib, CEO of Rashid Hospital, emphasizes the all-encompassing cardiac care under one roof. The CCoE is committed to prioritizing physician access to clinical affiliation, research, and technology innovation.

Dr. Ibtesam Al Bastaki, Director of Investments and Public-Private Partnership Department, DHA, stresses that the Cardiology PPP project aims to effectively allocate risks between the public and private sectors while reducing operating costs over the facility’s 25-year lifecycle.

In parallel with this ground-breaking initiative, Dubai is gearing up to enhance its healthcare innovation landscape. The Ministry of Health and Prevention has recently unveiled the second edition of the ‘Be Bold’ healthcare innovation and future foresight program. This initiative seeks to shape the future of healthcare by fostering collaboration among innovators, businessmen, start-ups, and health service providers.

The program encompasses mentoring sessions and workshops focusing on design thinking, future foresight, policy design, and entrepreneurship. This proactive approach aims to position the UAE as a hub for healthcare innovation and investment.

Together, the Cardiac Centre of Excellence and the ‘Be Bold’ program underscore Dubai’s dedication to advancing healthcare, embracing innovation, and paving the way for a healthier future for its residents and beyond. The stage is set for a new era in healthcare excellence in the heart of the Middle East.
